About the Studio
Brain Jar Games is a fully remote studio bringing developers together from across the globe to build something truly amazing. Their debut title, Dead as Disco, is a music-based martial arts brawler built in Unreal Engine 5, a game packed with iconic characters, memorable environments, and a seamless music-matched combat experience unlike anything else in development right now.

About the Role
You will work closely alongside the existing QA team to own testing and feedback across a wide range of features, verifying release notes daily, responding to team requests, tracking and triaging issues, and helping maintain the overall quality bar of the game.
This is not a purely quantitative role. Beyond finding and reporting bugs, you will be expected to provide qualitative feedback on gameplay, mechanics, and overall player feel. If something works but does not feel right, we want to hear about it. You will need to become an expert on Dead as Disco quickly, and ideally you will already know the game before your first conversation with us.
This role comes with a clear growth trajectory. Brain Jar is looking for someone who can step up into a lead position over time, taking on greater ownership of the QA function as the team scales.
What You’ll Need
- Minimum 3 years of QA testing experience in a game development environment
- Experience at a small or independent studio, you understand how smaller teams operate and what is expected of you in that environment
- Proficiency with JIRA for bug tracking, triage, and team communication
- Familiarity with TestRail or similar test management tools
- Comfort with G Suite and the ability to develop detailed test plans, test cases, and checklists
- Experience working on, or a demonstrated passion for playing, music-based games or third-person combat games
- The ability to give qualitative gameplay feedback
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in a remote environment
- A proactive, self-managed approach – you take initiative without waiting to be asked
Bonus Points For
- Experience testing in Unreal Engine 5 (strongly preferred)
- Ambition to grow into a QA lead role and take on broader team responsibilities
- Having already played Dead as Disco (this is a big deal to us)
